Frequently Asked Questions
Are all dogs suitable for boarding at Bed & Biscuits?
No. Unfortunately, our services are only suitable for friendly, family pets. We are happy to accommodate puppies as long as they are fully vaccinated. We are happy to accept most breeds as long as they are obedient, non-destructive, non-aggressive and have a calm and gentle nature. We are currently unable to accept entire male dogs. We do not accept incontinent dogs or bitches that are expected to be or are in season during the period of their stay with us. If your dog causes any damage, any repair costs will be charged to the owner.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes. Although your dog will not be in contact with any other dogs who are not vaccinated, your dog should always have its annual vaccinations to protect it against infections and disease. Your dog should also be wormed and be treated for fleas before and be free of any infection before their stay.. If fleas are found to be present, we will treat your pet and you will need to reimburse us for any expenses incurred. No dog will be accepted without a current certificate for Distemper, Infectious Canine Hepatitis, Parvo Virus, Para-influenza, Leptospirosis and we do not insist on the Bordatella Bronchiseptica (Kennel Cough) but please be aware if you choose to vaccinate your dog for KC we will insist on a 14 day incubation period before the dog can join us for daycare/boarding.
Can all my dogs be accommodated?
As our accommodation is very generously sized, 2 or more dogs from the same family can share the luxury accommodation.
What will I need to provide for my dog?
We ask that you bring your dogs food, ensuring there is enough for the duration of the stay. We can supply a bed, towels, bowls, and everyday items. However, we always recommend bringing familiar bedding, toys and treats. We find that it will make your dogs stay with us more comfortable. You will need to ensure that your dog is wearing a suitable collar with a name tag and bring a lead. If your dog has special dietary needs or medication this is not a problem. Please remember to supply any medication that your pet will need for the entire length of its stay. Remember please though that your dog may chew their bedding! All belongings left on the premises are left entirely at the client’s risk. Any bedding/beds must be in a clean and parasite-free condition.
I would like my dog to be let off the lead, is this ok?
Yes. Most clients are happy to supply a flexi lead. If an owner insists that they want their dog let off then then we will hopefully be in agreement after appraisal of your dogs behaviour. You must accept full responsibility and liability for your dog while off the lead if your dog runs away, gets lost, causes an accident, bites someone or gets into a fight with another dog.
Is there a minimum stay period?
At peak times there is a minimum of five day stay, or seven days for the Christmas period.
What time do i need to bring my dog & Does the time that I leave/collect my dog effect the cost?
No. We charge by the calendar date and not by the 24 hours. This means that your dogs accommodation is available all day on the day that you wish to leave your dog and on the day you wish to collect your dog (particularly early and late times by prior arrangement). This gives you complete flexibility. However, in peak season we are understandably extremely busy and we need to arrange a suitable drop-off/collection time to ensure a smooth changeover.
Can I make a provisional booking?
We can hold your dates for 1 week. In that time we will send you the booking form and ask that you return it within the date stated with your booking deposit. Upon receipt of the booking form and deposit we will confirm your booking.
When is the fee paid for my booking?
The fee is made up of two parts. You pay a 50% non-refundable deposit with your booking form and the balance of the fee is due the day before the first day of your dogs stay with us. Any extra fees incurred during the duration of the dogs stay will be invoiced upon the collection of your dog. We only accept cash payments or bank transfer.
What happens once I have made a booking?
Upon receipt of your booking form and deposit, we will confirm your booking and we will then contact you again nearer to your booking to confirm arrangements.
Are there any extra charges?
There are no standard “extra charges”. Special diets, grooming, bathing will be charged separately and added to the final account. We also offer extra services should you require them including a delivery/collection service and full grooming services. Please enquire for further details.
What happens if my dog is ill whilst I am on holiday?
if your dog is poorly during its stay with us, we will endeavour to contact your own vet. If your vet is not local to us, we will make an appointment at our approved local vetinary hospital and the cost of treatment will be reclaimed on your return. Any costs incurred will need to be reimbursed. Our local hospital is open 24 hours a day for emergencies. We will contact you on your emergency number at the first opportunity to discuss what has happened and keep you updated of your pet's progress.
What happens if I do not show up for my booking?
If you do not turn up for your booking or cancel giving less than 48 hours notice the total fee will be due and the second half of your fee will be invoiced.
What happens if I need to cancel my booking?
If you need to cancel for any reason then you will lose your booking deposit.
What happens if I collect my dog later than agreed?
If you leave your dog later than the agreed time but on the same day, there is no extra cost or refund; you have paid for the day. If you anticipate arriving later we ask that you make us aware of your later drop off time. If you drop your dog off on a later day than agreed there is no refund. Your accommodation has been reserved for your dog from the confirmed date.
What happens if I collect my dog early?
If you return from your holiday early and decide to collect your dog before the due date - there is no refund of payment.
Will my dog be safe whilst boarding?
All dogs are fully insured during their stay at Bed & Biscuits. However, this is our home and we are entrusted with your animal so we will endeavour to make every effort to keep your dog safe and secure. We have security cameras on site together with alarms and security lighting.
How will you look after my dog whilst he/she is boarding with you?
All dogs left in our care will be treated as if they were our own animals. We will will check their health and diets regularly. If your dog comes back from exercise wet or muddy, we will towel-dry them to ensure they are comfortable and clean. We like to feed the dogs twice a day and give them various treats and chews periodically. However, we will follow your instructions to keep their routine as close as possible to their home routine.
